Characterization of the complete mitochondrial genome of the Atlantic seabob shrimp <i>Xiphopenaeus kroyeri</i> Heller, 1862 (Decapoda: Dendrobranchiata: Penaeidae), with insights into the phylogeny of Penaeidae

Abstract The Atlantic seabob shrimp, Xiphopenaeus kroyeri (Heller, 1862) (Penaeidae), is commonly found on western coasts and of high commercial importance in Brazil, Suriname, Guyana. Current genetic resources X. are scarce no genomic studies available. This study reports the complete mitochondrial genome kroyeri. Using pipeline NOVOPlasty, we assembled circularized with an average coverage 68x per nucleotide. AT-rich 15,999 bp length comprised 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 2 ribosomal RNA genes, 22 transfer genes. A single 1,030 long intergenic space assumed to be D-loop/Control region (CR). Selective pressure analysis indicated that PCGs were under purifying selection. KA/KS ratios observed for cox1, cox2, atp6, cox3, cob much lower than other PCGs, suggesting strong selection upon former secondary structures tRNA exhibited a standard ‘cloverleaf’ structure, exception trnS1. maximum likelihood phylogenetic based all more closely related penaeids (Penaeidae) belonging genera TrachypenaeusAlcock, 1901, PenaeopsisSpence Bate, 1881, MierspenaeopsisK. Sakai &amp; Shinomiya, 2011. contributes new this commercially important species which may aid distinguishing cryptic elucidating phylogeographic patterns.
